Speaker Bios
Elli Weisbaum (she/her), PhD, True Blue Stream, is a Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village tradition and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in the Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health Program, with joint appointments in Psychiatry and Public Health. She attended her first retreat with Thầy in 1998, participating in the children and then teen programs. She co-founded Wake Up Toronto and researches how mindfulness is integrated across education, healthcare, and the workplace.
Elle King (she/they), Full Moon Courage of the Heart, began regularly attending Wake Up San Francisco in 2017, attending the global Wake Up retreat in Plum Village that same year. Since then, she has taken on the role of Wake Up North America Coordinator and CTC member (2020-present) and has led Wake Up Austin for the last 6 years.
Pablo Seto (he/him), True Continuation of Brightness (真接明), was ordained into the Order of Interbeing in 2021 and serves as a facilitator with Wake Up Toronto and a member of the North American Wake Up Care-Taking Council. He enjoys dharma sharing, chanting in Cantonese, and bringing mindfulness into his work in corporate banking.
Logan Mitchell (they/them), True Continuation of Compassion, has been practicing in the Plum Village tradition since they were a teenager, and they were ordained into the Order of Interbeing in 2021. Logan is currently a PhD Candidate in Philosophy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where theyare writing a dissertation on the moral dimensions of mindfulness.
Chris Pham (he/him), True Path of Generous Action, has practiced in the Plum Village tradition since 2014 and supports Wake Up communities across North America. He co-hosts the Rhythm of the Earth Mindful Music Festival, co-founded Morning Bird Sangha, and has led major fundraising for Deer Park Monastery.
Zack Foley, True Precious Life, co-founded Wake Up NYC in 2012, was ordained into the Order of Interbeing in 2013, and has served with the Riverside Sangha since 2011. Based in Texas, he cares for his father, works part-time as an LCSW in inpatient psychiatry, and is a musician with the Plum Village Band.
