We hope you had a wonderful start of 2020 so far!
In the midst of taking care of family and friends in the holiday season, have you found time to look after yourself?
Let this coming Wake Up retreat be a great way for you to tune into your inner wisdom and find your way into a more peaceful and transforming 2020. Guided by Monastics of the Plum Village tradition, brother Phap Hai and sister Uu Bat, this joyful and special retreat will be a deep dive into the mindful way of the heart. We will enjoy deep and practical sharings on opening our heart, nurturing awareness, and discovering and walking our unique path. There will be a number of innovative and creative activities offered throughout this retreat! Come join us.
About brother Phap Hai:
Originally from Australia, Brother Phap Hai is a senior student of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Prior to becoming a monk, he trained as a chef. Brother Phap Hai is known for his ability to convey complex teachings in an accessible and humorous manner and leads retreats and workshops throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Australia, and Asia. He currently resides at Deer Park Monastery, in California, where he breathes, walks, and smiles on a regular basis. About sister Uu Bat:
Originating from Australia, sister Trang Uu Bat received ordination in 2013 and is a local monastic in Australia. With a joyful and innovative approach to mindfulness practices with beautiful songs and engaging games and activities, sister Uu Bat captures the hearts of young practitioners from teenagers to young adults. RETREAT DETAILS
When: Friday 6 March (from 3pm) until Sunday 8 March (to 3pm) 2019. Please arrive after 3pm to register and settle in.
Where: Kihilla Conference Center. 5-17 Queens Road. LAWSON NSW 2783. (https://www.kihilla.org.au)
Cost: $200 for food, accommodation and running costs
$250 if you wish to offer support to friends who require financial support.You are most welcome to donate more. We do not take any profits from the retreat and any funds that we have in addition to costs will be donated to Plum Village Australia- Nhap Luu Stream Entering Monastery in Victoria.

RSVP: This retreat has a limited number of places which are available on a first come first served basis, so please fill out the online registration form and make your payment ASAP to secure your place. Preference will be given to Wake Up practitioners (if not a regular wake up practitioner preference will be given to those within the Wake Up age range 17-36).
Meals: All of the delicious food will be vegan and prepared with love! Please inform us if you have any specific dietary requirements/food allergies.
Communications: For the duration of the retreat, we invite you to refrain from using social media/internet. If required, you may use your phone to make contact with family.
Accommodation: rooms are twin share (same sex).
Transport: The venue is about 20-25 minutes walk from both Lawson or Faulconbridge station. If walking is not manageable for you there is also carpooling option. We will be coordinating car pooling / lifts and will do our best to arrange transportation for everyone.
Working meditation: We may ask for some assistance from participants during the retreat for basic set up / cleaning up and cooking
Sustainability: We are hoping to minimize unnecessary waste during the retreat. Please note below that we are requesting you bring a refillable water bottle, and re-usable container for picnic lunch.
WHAT TO BRING
Flashlight
Loose pants for comfortable sitting and modest clothing
Enough warm clothes. Also clothes for wet weather, insect repellent, sun hat, sunglasses
Meditation cushion (if you have one)
Ear plugs and eye mask, if you are a light sleeper
Shoes for bushwalking
Slip-on shoes, that can be easily removed for entering meditation hall and indoor shoes to wear inside, where outdoor shoes are not allowed
Refillable water bottle and reusable container for picnic lunch
Towel
Personal toiletries
Your own linens: sheet covers, pillow covers/sleeping bags. There are blankets, pillows and mattresses provided by the venue
